I think this is giong to be my film...at least for now. I like it better than the other things i've come up with.
"Mane Attraction"
About a zoo gardener who, one day while pruning the bushes, accidently chops up a lions mane.
I've still working it out but it would basically either be a chase scen through the zoo...simple though, where right as the lion gets closer and closer to his face, ready to eat him, he sees himself in the guys sun glasses and likes what he sees admiring himself....cut to all the lions lined up waiting for their turn. Something that simple, but just injected with a lot of character.
I like it cause it's so simple. The other option to not have a chase scene....still working out that.

you could play it like the lion is (you said it best yourself) the "mane" attraction at the zoo, and the gardener has until the zoo opens to make him look right for the crowds.

awesome Justin! I like lissa's idea. I'm not sure about the sunglasses thing. It seems a little out of left field. Maybe I'm not picturing it correctly. The lion's really vain right? So he gets pissed when the gardener chops up his perfect mane. Its seems weird he'd be admiring himself with a mane he thinks is ugly. Does that make sense?
Chase sequences are awesome though!

no no, it's more of a regular lion....in a regular cage, and the gardner, not paying attention, is like going along trimming the hedges and like eyes close listening to his walkmen or something, cuts up the lions mane. the lion goes crazy and chases the guy around the park....THEN at near the end he is on top of the guy or "face to face" and sees himseld, THEN he realizes he likes how he looks, not wanting to kill the guy... make any more sense? Lissa, good idea, but it's a little too madagascar..the whole "ready for my big moment"....and I hated that movie..in no way do I want to copy it.

i see it more like the lion is all apathetic and the gardener is freakin' out because he's gonna be screwed if the main attraction is mane-less. but of course, it's your film, and the further you are from madagascar, the better

it can be nice and short, and seems like you can practice a lot of acting in those moments...yeah...I agree with you justin, shoudn't remind any one madagascar. I guess alot of funny moments can be created by how you actually animate them. so far I like it~! Do it~!

Yeah april, that's exactly what I need and want to do. I am slowly figuring out the little moments, the pacing, the cuts, the compositions. I am in the middle of designing the lion. I will hopefully be able to post it later today.
