So I just visited the Japanese Ghibli studio site, and found information on the new Miyazaki film.
Hahaha, but alas, I have tricked you all!!! It is NOT Miyazaki HAYAO,(the director of Nausika, Mononoke, Spirited..) but a different Miyazaki. I think it might be his son. His name is Miyazaki Goro(?). But his last name is Miyazaki, and I guess there is a high chance that he is related to Miyazaki Hayao.
It says in their website:
"Miyazaki Goro's First directorial debut!"
"Tales from Earthsea"
Japanes original title: Chronicles of Ged/ Legend of Ged (depending how you translate it)
see the teaser illustration on their official site: www.ghibli.jp/
www.ghibli.jp/
I'm guessing, since on the upper lefthand corner it says:
"Original Story by Le Guin," the story is basically Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea books.
I've never read the books, but I've seen the sci-fi tv movie they did last year with the actor who played iceman in X2 and the girl from smallville.
anyway here's the poster for Ghibli's Earthsea production:

So is anyone excited?!
As some people might know, I am a hopless SUCKER for Fantasies, especially tradtional fantasies dealing with dragons and magic..etc I am super happy that they are comming out with this..the only lowdown for me is that I already know the story (since I've seen the miniseries) and it's no LOTR.
But! This might be 1000 times cooler in animation and Ghibli has their own way of totally making things cooler, and even maybe re-adjusting the story.
to be honest, i am really starving for some good quality traditional hand-drawn animation right now, and Ghibli seems the only major studio making it so I guess I'm excited!
